The BDR-XD07UHD is one of the world's smallest and lightest BD/DVD/CD portable burners supporting 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray playback using CyberLink software. The drive supports BDXL and M-DISC format. The ultra-compact 133×133mm USB 3.0 drive can read and write to all BDXL discs1 including BD-R triple-layer 100GB media, BD-R quad-layer 128GB media, and BD-RE triple layer 100GB media, as well as conventional Blu-ray discs (single-layer 25GB media and dual-layer 50GB media). The portable device, measuring only 133mm (W) X 133mm (D) X 14.8mm (H) and weighing a mere 230g, also has the ability to be powered directly via USB (no AC adaptor required). USB Type-C conversion cable included that enables to connect with Windows PC and Mac.
The BDR-XD07UHD includes CyberLink Software, “CyberLink Media Suite 10” only for Windows OS. It is needed to be downloaded through the WEB. (https://jpn.pioneer/ja/pcperipherals/bdd/eula/cyberlink_media_suite/en.php) Product key for free download is included. PowerDVD™14 delivers award winning playback software and will even upscale standard-definition content to high-definition quality. PowerDirector® 15 LE allows you to import your home movies, edit them, and then upload them to social media sites. Power2Go® 8 gives you the ability to burn your valuable files to Blu-ray (including triple and quad layer BDXL discs), DVD or CD media.
With BDXL and M-DISC support, you can now back up your files with fewer discs than ever before, and since the drive is portable and USB bus powered, all of this can be done virtually anywhere. The BDR-XD07UHD can write up to 6x2 on BD-R and BD-R dual-layer (DL) media. One BD-R DL disc can hold the same amount of data as 10 DVDs (single-layer). One QL disc can hold the same amount of data as 27 DVDs (single-layer). The drive is also backward compatible to read and write to most DVD and CD recordable media. Click on the 'Specifications' tab to see all supported media formats and the read and write/burn speeds achievable for each format.
The BDR-XD07UHD also has unique features such as PowerRead™³, Auto Quiet mode, and PureRead3+⁴. PowerRead can provide smoother movie playback when a disc has fingerprints or minor surface scratches. Auto Quiet mode intelligently adjusts the disc rotation speed to reduce noise (useful while watching movies or listening to music), and PureRead automatically adjusts the drive parameters to minimize sound glitches during music playback. Auto Quiet mode and PureRead can be configured as well as enabled and disabled with the Pioneer BDR-XD07UHD Drive Utility.
Support 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray playback
Support 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray playback using included CyberLink software.
Long-term data protection with M-DISC™ Support
Support reading and writing M-DISC™(DVD, BD: SL25GB/DL50GB/TL100GB) introduced by Millenniata, Inc. Virtual radar client.
Compact, well-balanced body
Clamshell type that enables the easy takein and takeout of a disc in a narrow place. 230g super lightweight and 133×133mm CD size compact body
“PureRead 3+” that faithfully reads audio CDs
Scratches and fingerprints on your CDs can cause them to skip. A drive normally makes a calculated guess at the unreadable data and attempts to correct this to match the original music. However, this is not 100% accurate. PureRead3+, when enabled, makes the drive reread the obscured data to extract the original music as accurately as possible.
Store more data
Up to 156% more data storage capacity than a 50GB Dual Layer Blu-ray Disc. The BDXL™ format supports BDXL Blu-ray media (including 128GB Quadruple Layer (QL)¹ and 100GB Triple Layer (TL)¹ Blu-ray Disc™).
Faster burning
Up to 16x2 writing on BD-R single-layer discs, 14x on BD-R DL discs, and 8x writing on BD-R triple-layer discs.
An eco-friendly drive
Smaller packaging- saves resources and fuel transportation. Reduced power consumption on external USB drives which allows for eco-friendly USB bus-powered drives.
Smooth movie playback
Scratches, fingerprints and other abnormalities on the surface of a disc can sometimes cause Blu-ray and DVD movie playback to stop. When a PowerRead enabled drive is not able to read through obstructed areas of a disc, it will attempt to move forward quickly to the next available data point, resulting in smoother Blu-ray and DVD movie playback3.
A smarter drive
Pioneer drives with Auto Quiet mode, monitor how they are being used and adjust their speed automatically – high speed for data transfer, and low speed for music or movie playback.
Wide blank media support
Pioneer strives to have best-in-class performance over a wide range of media – our drives achieve this for a large variety of BD and DVD media. Refer to the drive’s media support list for all supported media and the write speed that can be achieved.

I have set up my new HTPC with the goal of playing UHD-BD on my 4k TV. After hours of analysis and experiment, I must say that my project with PowerDVD 17 UHD-BD failed to play. The support, unfortunately, does not answer yet.
Software:
- PowerDVD 17 Ultra
- Windows 10 64 Bit Prof. with Kodi
- SGX installed
- Intel Management installed
- Newest graphics driver for the HD 630
- DVB Viewer Server
Hardware:
- Intel i3 8100 (8. generation)
- Gigabyte Z370N with SGX enabled in the Bios, 512 MB located Ram
- 128 GB Samsung SSD + 6 TB WD RED
- 8 GB DDR 4 RAM
- Digitial Devices 4x Sat Receiver
- Pioneer bdr-211ubk
(In my eyes the most expensive UHD-BD Player that doesn't work. The hardware and software is the from Cyberlink recommend hardware for UHD-BD.)
In the windows device manager I can see the SGX enabled and also the Intel tool says it is active.
I tried to
- activate and deactivate the SGX setting in the bios, no affect
- I installed the IME (Intel Management Engine) frim the Gigabyte page
- I updated the graphics driver
- I changed the graphics RAM settings in the Bios
- I installed the PowerDVD 14 which is bundled with the BD-Drive
- I checkt the SGX service in the windows/settings and it is running
- I connected the HDMI port directly to the TV (before there was my Onky 646 in between)
- I disabled the lan and connected the HTPC to a separate WIFI over my smartphone
- I disabled the windows firewall
- I reinstalled PowerDVD 17 Ultra
-> Result: I still get the same error message. Error code 21204 and E8814001
I have no idea to get the 4k movie running and I spent hours to search and try what I can. I assume that the problem is in the PowerDVD Software
Does anybody have an idea what I can do? Or is UHD-BD only a marketing gag and is running only in a laboratory environment?
Please help , Thanks!!!
Christian

I receive the error code 21204 and E8814001. With E8814001 with Google I find nothing at the moment, what does this error mean?
Best regards

Did you try BIOS update from Gigabyte?
I found there is a new version BIOS F3 that released on 3/8 at Gigabyte page.
It also improves the graphics compatibility. Reply

Hi, yes I tried the F2 and F3. No difference. Reply
I have spent quite a few hours trying to get this to work (have UHD blu ray working fine on a older Z170 AsRock board so I know how it's done).
I suspect it is related to the Gigabyte BIOS and Intel ME. Have tried all 3 BIOS versions available in combination with both Win 10 1703 and 1709. Have also tried endless combination of Intel ME, Intel SGX and Intel Graphics drivers. Nothing works and always the same error as posted above.
The only thing I might add is that HDCP 2.2 seems to be working with some combinations of all this but not all (I test this using Netflix 4K as that requires HDCP 2.2 and Advanced Protected Audio/Video). I have noted that Cyberlink UltraHD blu ray advisor is not reliable when it comes to HDCP 2.2/APAV. Sometimes it says HDCP 2.2 and/or APAV or 'NO' but I still get Netflix 4K to work. Other times it is right.
Have logged a support case with Gigabyte so we will see what they say..
PS. Do you guys have these Errors in the Windows Event Viewer?
AESMService: Platform Services error
and
AESMService: Platform Services initialization failed due to Long Term Pairing failure

As in my initial post, the Gigabyte Z370N Reply
A couple of things that I can suggest for those of you that do not get it working:
* I'm using F2 BIOS.
* Make sure you use Secure Boot + UEFI. I found this to be a bit tricky/unclear in the Z370N BIOS but it is doable. Also set the internal graphics memory as per cyberlink recommendation (I think it's 128 MB).
* I could not get it to work if I installed Windows 10 1703 and then upgraded to 1709 through Windows Update. In the end I had to create a new install USB with the latest Win 10 1709. This is probably because Windows Update 'upgrades' SGX to the very latest version when upgrading Windows. And that version can then not be downgraded. But if you install 1709 directly and SGX separately it seems to not upgrade SGX from Windows Update.
After the fresh install of Windows 10 1709 I installed the following:
* Intel INF installation 10.1.1.45: http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Driver/mb_driver_chipset_intel_rs3.zip
* Critical ME firmware + software update: http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Utility/mb_utility_intel-me-critical-fw_B17.1218.1.zip
* Intel VGA Driver 23.20.16.4849: http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Driver/mb_driver_vga_intel_64_rs3.zip
Then set SGX in BIOS to 'Enabled' in BIOS and installed:
* Intel® Software Guard Extensions Platform 1.9.100.41172: http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Utility/mb_utility_sgx_1.9.100.41172.zip
* PowerDVD version 14 (or 17)
Intel ME and SGX are still not working at this stage (even though they should) and you get the error above in PowerDVD. I had to also install this as a final step:
* Intel INF installation 10.1.17541.8066: http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Driver/mb_driver_chipset_intel_10.1.17541.8066.zip
And then Intel ME and SGX starts working and I could play UHD blu ray.
I'm not sure if these exact steps and drivers are necessary to get it working. But one thing is sure. You cannot install any combination of windows 10 version, drivers and BIOS version and get it to work. It might be a different combination of drivers (and install order) if you are using F1 or F3 BIOS or Windows 10 1703. Big thanks to MelonGx at bluray.com forum who shared the drivers he had working on his Z370N. That helped me narrow down a working combination on a new install.
I might do a fresh install in a few weeks to find out excatly what the problems are. If I find out more I'll post it here.
